SEO & AI Search

Search Console and technical

The work that makes you reachable.

This is the layer that decides whether Google and the AI assistants can get to your pages at all. It is necessary, it is cheap, and it runs out of road quickly. The next section says how far it takes you, because we would rather you heard it from us than paid someone a year to find out.

How far it takes you

Reachable is the floor, and the floor is where it stops.

A page an engine cannot fetch has no chance of being cited, so this work has to happen. What it will not do is decide who gets recommended once every business in your suburb is reachable, which most of them already are.

Three separate pieces of evidence say so. Ahrefs’ meta-analysis of 14 studies found close to no measured effect from schema on whether a brand gets cited. Google has said publicly that it does not use llms.txt. And an Insites audit of 10,000 US local businesses put technical SEO, page speed and structured data among the weakest of the 200-plus signals it tested.

We price this accordingly. It is a fixed piece of work with a finish line, done once in the audit and kept from slipping afterwards, rather than a monthly line item that bills forever for a job that was finished in week three.

The checks

Five things that stop an engine reaching you.

Each of these is silent when it is wrong. The site loads, the pages look fine, and something upstream is turning the engine away.

  • The crawler gate on your host. Cloudflare blocks the AI crawlers by default, whatever your robots.txt says. We check yours lets them through.
  • Bing holds your sitemap. Bing is the index ChatGPT Search and Copilot read. We check it has yours, and submit it where it does not.
  • Private pages hidden the right way. Blocking a page in robots.txt leaves it eligible as a bare URL, because the crawler never reaches the instruction telling it to stay out. We check yours are hidden the way that works.
  • Changes resubmitted the same day. When a page changes we push it back to Google, Bing and the index Claude reads that day, so the wait drops from weeks to days.
  • Every page's speed, not the home page's. Your home page is your fastest page. We test every other one and name the fix for each.
Search Console

The searches you already rank for and lose.

Search Console records the position and the click separately, so it can show you a search where you sit on page one and almost nobody comes through. That pair is the one thing here that pays back on its own, because the ranking is already won and only the result someone reads is failing.

We list those searches for your site, ranked by how many clicks the gap is costing, with the change to make on each result. If you are on the monthly plan they get worked through; if you took the audit alone, the list is yours to hand to whoever looks after your site.

All of the above is inside the audit, $600, written down with the fix for each item.

FAQ

Questions about the technical layer.

Does structured data get my business cited by AI assistants?
The measured evidence says close to no effect. Ahrefs' meta-analysis of 14 studies found schema barely moved whether a brand was cited. We still add it, because it controls how your listing renders in Google and costs an afternoon, and we do not sell it as the thing that gets you recommended.
Do I need an llms.txt file?
No. Google has said publicly that it does not use llms.txt, and no assistant we track has said otherwise. It takes five minutes to add and we will add one if you want it, but a plan that leads with it is selling you the cheapest item on the list.
Why does my site rank on Google and get no clicks?
Usually the page ranks for a search whose answer Google is already showing, or the title and description on the result give the searcher nothing to click for. Search Console records both halves, the position and the click, so the searches where you rank and lose the click can be listed and worked through one by one.

Find out what is turning the engines away.

The audit checks the crawler gate, both indexes, every page's speed, and the searches where you rank and lose the click.
